The Donegal Insurance Group Harrisburg Half and 3 Bridges 5k will challenge you to a new level of fitness! The Harrisburg Half Marathon is one of the fastest-growing races in the YMCA Race Series.Are you looking to reach a new goal in 2018? The Harrisburg Half Marathon or the 3 Bridges 5K is a great choice for seasoned runners and running newbies alike. Our new course provides a flat, yet challenging run that will spur you on to a PR. Participants must be at least 13 years old to register for both the Half Marathon and the 3 Bridges 5k. All registrations are final. All registration price cutoffs are at 11:59 pm on the dates listed below. Please note that there are no refunds.

Race day registration begins at 6:30am on Sunday, September 9th at the Carousel Pavilion on City Island (near the starting line). All race participants are encouraged to be at the island no later than 7:30am, due to the high volume of walk-ups and packet pickups. Remember, the race starts promptly at 8:00am. Walkers go off at 7:15am.

  • Runners and Walkers – $90

Race shirts are not guaranteed for participants who register during packet pickup times.


The Radisson in Camp Hill is offering a special rate of $115 for the Half Marathon! Please contact the Radisson at 717-763-7117. This includes at late checkout of 3pm on race day. Deadline for hotel block registration is Wednesday, September 5th.


If you are unable to participate in the 2018 Harrisburg Half Marathon or 3 Bridges 5k you may defer your entry to the 2019 event. The fee to defer is $20. The last day to defer is Tuesday, September 4th at 11:59PM. Click here for information about how to defer your entry.

Saturday, September 8th – 11:00AM-4:00PM at the Radisson in Camp Hill

Race Day – 6:30AM-7:30AM at Carousel Pavilion on City Island

Participants are allowed to pick up the race bag of a friend or family member.

7:15AM – Walkers start on the Market St Bridge
8:00AM – Runners start on the Market St Bridge (both Half Marathon and 3 Bridges 5k)


The finish line of the race is at the end of the Walnut St. walking bridge on City Island. The bridge is open to the public during the race, but spectators will be barricaded to maintain a clear finish.

The new Half Marathon course features the same exciting start as the Harrisburg Marathon, including the Market St Bridge, West Shore, and the Harvey Taylor Bridge. Runners also get to experience a mostly flat course along the river as well as the same classic finish on City Island just past the end of the Walnut St Bridge.

The course will be open until Noon giving runners up to 4 hours to complete the race.  Anyone that feels they need additional time to finish can start with the walkers at 7:15am.  You must check in before the race if you are starting at 7:15am.

This exciting, unique 5k course will allow 5k participants to run the same course as the Half Marathon participants until the split at the Walnut St Bridge. This course features the Market St Bridge, Harvey Taylor Bridge, and the Walnut St Bridge. At the base of the Walnut St Bridge, 5k participants will head across the bridge to the finish while Half Marathon participants will continue to the lower level Greenbelt Path. This event is limited to the first 350 participants who register.

The Donegal Insurance Harrisburg Half-Marathon offers a walker division for anyone that feels they can not complete the race in under four hours. All participants must report to the registration area no later than 7:00am on race morning. Walkers will start at 7:15am. Aid stations are available approximately every three miles along with port-a-potties. All walkers will receive a finisher medal at the completion of the race. Post-race food and drinks will be available at the Carousel Pavilion after the race.

The relay exchange point for the new Half Marathon course will be approximately halfway through the course. Relay categories include all male, all female, and mixed.

  • Awards for the 3 Bridges 5k will be at the Carousel Pavilion on City Island at approximately 9:15am
  • Awards for the Half Marathon and relay will be held at the Carousel Pavilion on City Island at approximately 10:30am
  • Overall awards are scored by gun time. All age group and relay awards are scored by chip time. No exceptions.
  • No duplicate awards.

All runners and walkers in the Half Marathon will receive a finisher medal.
There will not be finisher medals for the 3 Bridges 5k.


All pre-registered participants will receive a 2018 Harrisburg Half T-Shirt or 2018 Harrisburg 3 Bridges 5K T-Shirt.


Results will be posted on the Falcon Race Timing website as soon as they are available


The race will be timed by Integrity Sports using disposable chip timing. All race participants must cross the finish mat to register a time. Be sure to wear your bib on the front of your body during the race to ensure an accurate time as the chips will be attached to the back of these. The preliminary results will be posted at the Carousel Pavilion after the race. They will also be posted on the Falcon Race Timing website.


Spectators interested in viewing parts of the race are encouraged to find spots along the Upper Riverfront path. If you plan on returning to City Island for the finish, please be courteous of runners as they will be finishing crossing the Walnut Street Bridge. The finish line is at the end of the bridge on the City Island side.


Participants can park on City Island, which is also the location of the Half Marathon packet pick-up, start, and finish. You can view of map of City Island hereClick here for a map of the parking lots on City Island.


Water stations will be set up at approximately mile 3.3, 6.2, 7.4, 8.6, 11, and 12.2.

Water station locations will be at the base of the lower level path (just down the ramp from Passage to India restaurant), Front St/Verbeke St, and Front St/Seneca St.


Portable toilets will be placed at the start and finish line area near the Carousel Pavilion on City Island. On the course, toilets will be placed at the Vine Street ramp (just beyond the Comfort Inn in Shipoke) and near the intersection of Division & Front streets (on the riverfront path). These toilets will be available as you run in both directions along riverfront. Shower facilities will also be available at the East Shore YMCA until 4:00PM.


EMS utility vehicles will be available along the course. A medical tent will be available near the finish line on City Island. EMTs will be in contact with each water station in case of emergency.


Can I wear headphones?
Headphones are permitted but not recommended, as it is an open course.

Where can I park?
Race participants can park at City Island for free the day of the race. Relay members can park at the Harrisburg Special Education buildings near the exchange point, as explained above.

Can I run with my child in a baby jogger or with my dog?
No. We do not allow baby joggers or pets on the course for safety reasons.

Is there a minimum age limit?
The minimum age is 13 years old. Please be advised that there will not be specially designated course personnel to monitor younger participants on the course.
